The course will provide an overview of human resource management, with particular emphasis in human resource planning and strategy, personnel selection, equal employment opportunity, training, performance appraisal, compensation, and contemporary issues in organizational behavior. The course has been developed for the student of general management whose job will involve responsibility for managing people in a global environment.

If you apply for a new job, have a job or have responsibility people on your team as a manager - Human Resource Management will usually be involved in decisions concerning people. Great companies consider their HR management as partners, equally important as their financial collaborators. Even if you are not planning a career in HRM, you will always be in need of your partners in some way or another. 

HRM is today an essential part of corporate strategy. It involves the long-term planning of any organization and the course will look into topics like talent management, HR planning and also performance appraisal and performance evaluation.

The course gives you a comprehensive overview on HRM's responsibilities, on their tasks and how they contribute to the overall productivity and profitability of organizations.

1. Introduction to Human Resource Management

Human resource management is the process of acquiring, training, appraising, and compensating employees, and of attending to their labor relations, health and safety, and fairness concerns. The topics we'll discuss should therefore provide you with the concepts and techniques you need to perform the people or personnel aspects of your management job. HRM also plays a major role today in formulating corporate and business strategies.

2. Strategic HRM / HR Planning / Globalization

There are important trends, which shape the work of human resource managers - i.e. globalization, technology, deregulation, changes in demographics, economic challenges etc. HR planning plays an important role in developing corporate and business strategies.

3. Job Analysis / Job Design / Job Description

Job Analysis: The procedure for determining the duty and skill requirements of a job and the kind of person who should be hired for it. Job Design: Job design is the process of work arrangement (or rearrangement) aimed at reducing or overcoming job dissatisfaction and employee alienation arising from repetitive and mechanistic tasks. Job Description: A list of a job's duties, responsibilities, reporting relationships, working conditions, and supervisory responsibilities.

4. Recruitment / Selection
