5. Fairy Tales, Art Therapy

6. Aesthetics and Object Relations 1: Klein

7. Aesthetics and Object Relations 2. Winnicott, Milner and Music

Introducing Winnicott’s work and the work of Milner. Plus music. |
8. Psychoanalysis and Literature: KafkaThere will be a change from the syllabus in that there's no students presentations today. We will do them all on tuesday. Today we turn to literature focusing on Franz Kafka. |
9. Psychoanalysis and Film: Svankmajer. Student Presentations.
AAU 3.26
Introducing the psychoanalysis of film with a focus on Jan Svankmajer. We already begin this overview in the context of dreams (the ten ways to approach film). Students present the key ideas of their final papers. |
10. Conclusion to Psychoanalysis and Art, Exam 2
AAU
Final exam on the second part of the course (written in class). In the second part of the class we will give an overview of the course and final art therapy practice. Exam 2 done in class, Jan 24. Final essay due by Jan 27. The paper will be 5-6 pages (double-line spacing), on a topic the student’s choice. It must incorporate at least two different major psychoanalytic approaches and show good abilities of analysis, synthesis and application of theory to a relevant topic on psychoanalysis and art. It should be well researched and referenced and include a bibliography. The student is expected to take an independent position and be able to defend their point of view. They will present their papers to the class (10-15 mins) on the second last day of class (tuesday 23rd). |
