Work on a 700-word Rhetorical Analysis essay utilizing at least 1 source. Draft due for in-class peer review next class. Drafts are worth 20 points. BRING A TYPED, PRINTED DRAFT. Explore Purdue OWL’s section on Academic Writing. Find a section and review it for class discussion on February 15. Review ENGL 101 Rhetoric & Composition (ENGL) 182-184, 188, Research Strategies Read (in Resources > Texts) Writing Unleashed: Argument (WUA) 53-66: Researching Critical Thinking (CT) 34-36: Rhetorical Analysis Rhetorical Analysis Essay in Resources > Rhetorical Analysis IN GENERAL: Get to know NEO. Get to know MS Word or a similar program. MS Word is the preferred program for this class; Google Docs has formatting issues. This is important since formatting is something I grade on. Start thinking about a topic for your argumentative research essay

2. Homework from February 15

Submit your summary of the peer review comments you’ve received today by 11:59 pm, February 16, to the folder on NEO. Revise your rhetorical analysis draft. Final due next week by the end of class in NEO and in hardcopy to me. (I greatly prefer hardcopies.) 4. Homework from February 29

Submit your summary of the peer review comments you’ve received today by 11:59 pm, March 1, to the folder on NEO. Final Cause-and-Effect Essay due next class in hardcopy (to me) and in folder on NEO. Submit your summary of MY comments on YOUR rhetorical analysis essay by 11:59 pm, March 1. Revise your draft of a 1,000-word cause-and-effect essay using at least two sources. Final due next week by end of class to NEO and in hardcopy to me (I greatly prefer hardcopies). Watch the ones of interest to you. Most are not too long. The other is pretty straightforward. Work on a 2,000-word AR essay using at least 5 sources. 1st draft due for peer review next class in hardcopy. 1st draft should be around 1,000-1500 words. 9. Homework from April 11

10. Homework from April 18

Final AR essays should be submitted to NEO. The folder closes at 5:15 pm, April 18. Work on a draft of a 1,500-word evaluation essay using at least 3 sources; peer review of draft next class. Draft is worth 20 points. Rubric used.

11. Homework from April 25

Submit your summary of the comments you received on your evaluation essay by 11:59 pm, April 26. Submit your summary of MY comments on your final AR essay by 11:59 pm, April 26. Revise your 1,500-word Evaluation Essay using at least 3 sources. Final due next class in hardcopy to me and electronically to NEO. Review “How to Use Graphic Organizers to Write Better Essays” at https://www.lucidchart.com/blog/graphic-organizers-for-writing-essays and put your evaluation essay into a graphic organizer, just to see what happens.

12. Homework from May 2

Final evaluation essays have been submitted. The folder is closed. Work on a draft of a 1,000-word reflective essay using at least two sources; peer review of draft next class. Work on a 5-10 minute presentation using GoogleSlides, Powerpoint, or other presentation program based on your AR essay. For presentation last day of class. Take quiz 4

13. Homework from May 9

Submit your summary of the comments you received on your reflective essay by 11:59 pm, May 10. Submit your summary of MY comments on your evaluative essay by 11:59 pm, May 10. Work on a 1,000-word reflective essay using 2 of your previous essays as sources. Final due next week (last day of class) in hardcopy to me an uploaded to NEO. Work on a 5-10 minute presentation based on your AR essay. For presentation to the class next week. Take Quiz 5
